Marcel Proust once said: “A real voyage of discovery lies not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” The quote has inspired us to hunt for new innovative solutions by shifting perspectives – looking with “new eyes.”
However, in that discovery lies the challenge of breaking our ordinary way of thinking to welcome new insights. To be lifted out from your traditional surroundings becomes essential in allowing yourself to get inspiration on another level than the one you already know about. We would like to welcome you to that level!
Christian Stoltze: "The most exiting thing about this project is the challenge I see in creating an unique concept, which can be applied to every city in the world and on the same time unique in a way that it gives power to create meaning to the participants making him or her urge to join us on the next adventure."
Thomas Gjerulff: "I believe it’s important that people in these times with fast informational overload and electronical distortion, are presented to analogue and transformational real life experiences! Having my present and future ambitions around working with inspiration, reflection and awareness in mind, these are the reasons why I have decided to work with the KaosWorks Inspirational Tour project on the Shanghai Outpost 2008."
Torben Brandt: "What a chance, I thought. A project where I had the opportunity to dig into a foreign culture, see it's strengths and combine it with what already lies within me, enabling me to grow further. As a bonus, seeing Shanghai as it should be seen, with curious eyes."
Daniel Seifter: "The trigger in this project is for me to explore the philosophy behind inspiration and how it can be used as a valueble tool in finding innovative solutions to tasks of tomorrow. Inspiration is around us at all times but we sometimes seem to lack the capabilities in how to work with it. I am dead curious to go deeper on the subject..."
Hedvig Høysæter:"This project immediately gave me energy because this was a hands on task. It seemed like a perfect possibility to mix the business side of a concept with playful research. Enabling us to follow through on a project from startup till final concept."
Nicklas Peter Hoeg: I was drawn to this project for various reasons: I like traveling and I really like urban living and underground events. In Shanghai the clashes between high and low is massive! - Development litterally happens overnight, which fits very well with my love for nocturnal activities such as music and graffiti. www.myspace.com/nicklashoeg
Karen Steinfeld: "When this project came up for grabs, I immediately got intrigued by the idea that we would be able to see a post communist society (city) in its flourish. And on that note create a concept that should be implemented in any city in the world. A huge task - executed by a great group!"
